The visitor arrives at the Creu del Portitxol , at the backwater of the coast, at the area that was a natural anchorage in ancient times.
However, when you look up, it will probably be very difficult for you to remove it from the scene that represents the barge stranded a few meters away: the island of Portitxol de Javea, an islet that reaches 300 meters in diameter, which came to be inhabited and where indeed, some burials have been discovered.

Portichol de JáveaExceptional cove from where the island of Portitxol is discovered, where tradition indicates that there were iron mines. Ideal place for scuba diving.

Physical Description: Narrow undeveloped beach, 600 x 8 m. coarse grain golden sand and stones, moderate waves, transparent waters, medium occupation, rough terrain, close to the Portichol Urbanization, it has restaurants, services, showers, toilets, telephones, beach cleaning and litter bins.

Access:By car from Jávea towards Cabo de la Nao, after traveling 8 km. Approximately take a detour to the left towards the La Barraca restaurant, park in its vicinity, from that point continue on foot down a panoramic path that reaches the beach winding through the urbanization that occupies the downslope.

Between Punta Pinet and Punta Canfali, a wide bay of more than two kilometres long shapes, with an urban beach, being without a doubt, one of the most bustling and crowded beaches in the Mediterranean coast. Thanks to its orientation, sunbathing until late in the afternoon in summer and until the sun sets in winter is possible. It has fine and golden sand and clear waters, and is decorated with palms giving it a very attractive aspect. The beach is delimited by a well cared waterfront, where restaurants, cafés and pubs follow one another. Beach adapted to people with reduced mobility.

Oliva is ten kilometres of clean beaches and clean see. In the town the Christian village and the Moorish suburb stand out. The most interesting places include the Archpriestal Palace, the convent of Rebollet, the “Torre de Comare” (from the 5th and 6th centuries), San Roque (from the 18th and 19th centuries), and the ruins of the castle of Santa Ana. Also noteworthy is the house of Gregorio Mayans and the ancestral homes from the 17th to the 19th centuries on Calle Tamarit.
The most crowded areas are around the beaches of Daimús, Miramar and Guardamar. The yacht club and the marina give opportunities to go water sports like windsurfing. Another standalone place of interest is the Pego-Oliva Fen Nature Reserve, wetlands territory with rare animals and plants, that makes a great ecological value.

Dénia is the capital of the Marina Alta. It is a cosmopolitan city that offers all kinds of modern services to either visitors or residents. Denia owes its current importance to prior being a city known in medieval times as the Marquesado de Dénia, from Latin “Dianium”, which is the origin of the name given to its inhabitants, the “dianenses”.
Dénia is a coastal city situated to the north of the Alicante province with a twenety-kilometres coastline of small coves. To the north there are sandy beaches of Les Marines and Les Bovetes, and shingle beaches of Les Deveses and L’ Almadrava. Though the beaches are long they are not huge, and fulfil family tourism requiremets.
The annual temperature is average 18 degrees C – it is really a pleasant place to stay.

Jávea is one of those little Spanish villages that just seems to have it all. The white sandy beach is clean, charming, has the blue flag of course and is surrounded by plenty of excellent restaurants, night clubs and much more. However exploring the town further only makes the experience better – the Jávea Port has a real latina vibe with its coastal promenade and outdoor cafes, fresh fish markets and a marina. The old town of Javea is entirely different again with a real traditional Spanish atmosphere and small narrow streets full of interesting specialist stores and restaurants.

Renting long term apartments in Jávea is relatively cheap, depending on the size and luxury you are after of course. The most expensive part of town for apartment rentals in Javea is the Arenal, which will put you within walking distance of the main sandy beach and all the pleasures surrounding it. English is widely spoken in this part of town and the apartments tend to be quite new and of high standard. The long term rental standard is a renewable 11months.

See more about the specific areas and rentals in Javea here

There are several rental agencies with strong reputations for proper service, good prices and ongoing property management of a high standard in Javea, one example being the oldest and most reputable agent in town – Villa Mia. Moving to Jávea in a rental apartment is a great choice for families with kids as the town has excellent schools, its safe to walk the streets day and night, there are plenty of activities for kids in Javea to partake in and the Spanish sense of community is widespread and makes for a very nice upbringing of kids.

When doing long term renting in Spain. Do not just look at the property itself, look at the agent you are renting the long let from as well. Some are brilliant and will cater for your every need, sort problems and help you settle in, others are barely short of pure scam artists. The best advice is to ask in local groups on facebook and google the company before making a decisions. Below are some examples of testimonials for local rental agents in Javea – as you can see they range from horror stories to high praise.

Another positive recommendation – for long lets in Javea i´d give my thumbs up to villamia Javea … Im not affiliated in any way, have just used them. In comparison to the horror stories some people have told about their agents, Villa Mia has always done their utmost to deliver good service, fix problems promptly and never just pass on bills and issues to tenants. It has further helped that they teamed up with R.Q.B.S. / Trevor Longfield for all maintenance and repairs – superbly competent, swift and able to do everything in house. Anyway, thought i´d get a positive story in before we start shaming anyone 😀

Theyre a good recommendation for people moving here too – helping with setup of bank accounts, internet lines etc in advance … was all ready when I rolled in.

It sounds so exceptionally better than the last agent we had!! after 1 viewing we took a residence, that had out of the ordinary energy straits and an major water bill from before we lived there, that we paid (800). As the landlady started hollering and did not repair anything after a over a month of waiting, we moved out. Then we heard that the commission we paid was for finding the property no support at all from the agent. We moved out on our own, he did not show up. No commission was paid back, nor the money we paid to Amjasa 🙁

We had much the same thing happening – the old tenant split without paying their bills, but rather than dumping the problem on us the agent rushed into action and got the problems sorted for us – most of them the same day (don´t know how, didnt need to know as it wasnt made out to be our problem at any point – they just said they would handle it and they did).

The sea and the town of El Campello have always went together. El Campello is located on a hill, and on the coast, around the Carrer del Mar, is located the former fishermen´s district which is the tourist area nowadays. Traditionally, the economy of El Campello was centred on fishing and crops, which is quite natural for Costa Blanca as the shore. The town also has a Casa de Cultura, Municipal Arts Centre, and a sport centre with a covered hall. The Casa de Cultura has an auditorium and an open-air amphitheatre.
El Campello has a twenty-three kilometre coastline in total with beaches from Muchavista Playa that borders on the always crowded San Juan Playa to rocky places like the Cova del Llop Marí, and the cove of Morro Blanc. Also, there is a nudist beach in the rocky Lloma de Reixes cove.

Benidorm is presumably the most popular and visited resort of Costa Blanca. There one can find anything necessary for a beach break: restaurants and cafes, pubs and bars, karaoke and discos. Benidorm is all skyscrapers and towers, thus variety of accommodation offers appear, including the Hotel Sol Pelicanos/Ocas, the Hotel Venus, the Hotel Flamingo Oasis and the Hotel Rio Park, or the Flamingo Playa Apartments, and of course the five-stars Don Pancho Hotel.
Finally, Benidorm has some of the best beaches in the world, with fine sand cleaned daily; the quality of the services and the transparency of the water are the main reasons for visiting taken into consideration by Benidorm’s many visitors.

Situated in the Bay formed by the Cabo de las Huertas and the Cabo de Santa Pola, at the foothill of the Monte Benacantil.
Alicante may be called a place for Costa Blanca starters, and it is not the airport meant – the city is really great. The old centre consists of old-fashioned narrow streets, the beaches are just the way they must be, and the sand on them is just golden. Beautiful green areas, famous promenades, and the marina where you have a spectacular view of the Santa Barbara Castle… The city has much to see and enjoy.
