Dénia is the capital of the Marina Alta. It is a cosmopolitan city that offers all kinds of modern services to either visitors or residents. Denia owes its current importance to prior being a city known in medieval times as the Marquesado de Dénia, from Latin “Dianium”, which is the origin of the name given to its inhabitants, the “dianenses”.
Dénia is a coastal city situated to the north of the Alicante province with a twenety-kilometres coastline of small coves. To the north there are sandy beaches of Les Marines and Les Bovetes, and shingle beaches of Les Deveses and L’ Almadrava. Though the beaches are long they are not huge, and fulfil family tourism requiremets.
The annual temperature is average 18 degrees C – it is really a pleasant place to stay.
